Zen and the Art of Poker

Briefly: I’ve listed this with the beginner books, but it’s not really. Like Ace on the River, it’s not a detailed book on how to play poker and for that reason it could be read by a beginner. The object of the book is to help you to develop a Zen-like attitude towards playing poker that will help you to manage tilt, aggression, and to gain some balance and perspective on your playing.

As far as I can tell, the author is not a Zen practitioner. He is, however, a poker player, and decided to research how some of the aspects of Zen might be applied to developing a winning attitude/approach to playing poker.

If you do much reading on the internet about poker (including my blog), you will often find references to this book, which speaks to the uniqueness and value of this particular book.
