April 24, 2007Looser / Aggressive
– Means:
- see more flops
- still should be raising entering
- playing slightly weaker hands from each position
- When:
- table is short
- table is too tight
- image is too tight
- How:
- Play late position cards from mid, mid from early
- Any Ace, suited K, straightable K, gapped connectors, small PP from late
Looser / Passive
– Means:
- limp into more flops
– When:
- blinds are low
– How:
Big stack
– Means:
- blinds are rising putting pressure on shorter stacks
- big stacks should put more pressure on shorter stacks
– When:
- usually late in tourneys
- How:
- raise often preflop
- bet at almost every flop/turn/river
Small stack play
– Means:
- maximizing fold equity
– When:
- start looking around 15 BBs because one raise + cbet will be the last you can do
– How:
- don’t call when under 10 BBs
- look for weak bets to push
- look for blinds to steal
- avoid pushing against raises without quality hands unless it’s the big stack playing LAG
